Mental health and Physical Health are equally important in conversations about health, especially for children. I want to teach children through counselling or talk therapy, how to be successful adults and manage their emotions with mental resilience.
We have our children's ears and eyes checked regularly. Having their emotional stability checked is just as important. Research has shown that more children have mental health problems now than 20 years ago.
Traumatic events can trigger mental health problems and it will make them more vulnerable than they already are. They also do not have the verbal reasoning ability to say what they feel. They might just say “My tummy hurts!” or “My head hurts.”. This could be their way of communicating that their emotions are all over the place.
As adults when we go for Counselling we are encouraged to express our feelings, I want the same for children that come to my practice.
I use different techniques like role-playing, sandplay, or other forms of art to help them to express their feelings.
Talk therapy for children and teenagers can now be done as online therapy.
New to our services is an online Concentration Challenge to help pinpoint attention or focus challenges.
